About this artwork
The work defies any attempt at interpretation. Using reduced painterly means – circular movement, suggested columnar structures, the onset of movement from left to right, etc. – a dynamic situation is created that has barely begun when it dissolves again. The dark purple traces of paint stand out particularly in contrast to the white background. The fleeting nature of the expression in this picture is enhanced by the spontaneously applied, yet perfectly…
staged, circular pencil marks. The picture gains its appeal from the minimal nature of the means employed, which, however, are used skillfully and effectively to convey a process full of movement, even to a certain explosiveness, and thus immediately capture the viewer's interest.

Ernst-Martin Heel is an artist living in Germany. Over the past decades, he has presented his work to an art-loving public in numerous solo exhibitions and his pieces are included in private collections in the USA, Spain, and Switzerland. His art has been reviewed in various publications and national newspapers such as the WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung). His paintings explore fundamental forces of existence in their upheavals, while maintaining an abstract and expressive formal language. However, the inherent chaos finds a rigorous harmony in his art. The principle of "floating" as a fundamental element of life is consistently reflected in his predominantly dynamic paintings.
