About this artwork
When you live by a river, you can hardly avoid waterfowl as a subject! In this small, impressionistic watercolor, I tried to capture the flight of two ducks against the light, just as I have so often seen and admired. The interplay of light on the water, the soft color transitions, and the use of gently shimmering copper pigments create a dreamy, magical, almost fleeting atmosphere. The watercolor expresses the freedom and lightness of the moment—as… if the energy of the birds were coming to life right there in your room.
Note: The image has a narrow border, which – if desired – is well suited for mounting a passe-partout. The paper size is 22.4 x 20 cm as stated above; the size of the watercolor itself is 19.8 x 17.3 cm.
