About this artwork
This ink painting draws from a dreamlike vision of catastrophe: alien forces striking the landscape with overwhelming power. The imagery reflects a recurring human fantasy of apocalypse, shaped today by science fiction and popular culture. Absurd and familiar references appear not as spectacle, but as signs of how deeply these narratives are embedded in our collective imagination.
Rather than predicting an end, the work raises questions about responsibility… and maturity as a human species. It asks whether moments of imagined collapse signal the need to grow up, to reorganize our values, and to return to cooperation as a condition for survival—something already present in the wisdom of our ancestors, yet often absent from contemporary storytelling.
Eva Schumy is a painter with a background from the University of Fine Arts in Budapest, enriched by international experiences across Europe and Asia. She fluidly blends abstraction and photorealism, harnessing water-based colors, expressive gestures, and precise distortions to summon the poetic absurdity and tensions of contemporary life. Her techniques embrace satire and surrealism, inviting viewers to see beyond logic and materiality. Schumy’s art radiates a vivid emotional honesty, persistently seeking meaning, vulnerability, and the unseen depths of human experience beneath the surface of the everyday.
