..her clothes spread wide,
And mermaid-like a while they bore her up,
Which time she chanted snatches of old lauds
As one incapable of her own distress,
Or like a creature native and indued..
The petals of the flowers that have fallen into the water slowly become transparent and seem to become water themselves, the floral patterns on the dress are intertwined with real stems and leaves.. and the figure of Ophelia also seems to begin to dissolve… among the scattered flowers and circles on the water, diverging from the beginning rain.. But! In the painting, her last minute will last forever and Ophelia will continue to float, beautiful and serene, still singing her last song not thinking about the future.. like many of us.. like our whole world.
"Ophelia" is exhibited at prestigious exhibition "Figurativas'23" at the MEAM Museum in Barcelona, Spain from October 6 to December 31, 2023. During this period, the painting will not be available for purchase, but can be reserved.
