About this artwork
In this artwork, painted in acrylic, I have depicted a skull using a combination of figurative and semi-abstract styles. The use of vibrant reds and calming whites symbolizes the duality of life and death. This composition invites the viewer to reflect on transience and the essence of existence. It brings a powerful energy to any home, encouraging reflection and appreciation of the present moment.

Ewa Mazur-Koj is a Polish-born artist. After a formative period in Italy, she has lived and worked in Germany since 2004. Her work has been presented in national and international exhibitions in Europe, the USA, and Asia. In her paintings, she combines figuration and abstraction to create emotional spaces where body, memory, and identity enter into dialogue. The female body and experiences form her starting point, but her themes extend far beyond this. Identity, memory, and inner transformation are central to her work. Her figures are not portraits of specific people, but rather traces of human presence—open to the experiences and memories of the viewer. For Ewa Mazur-Koj, painting is a visual language that invites reflection, creates a connection with one's inner self, and awakens confidence.
