About this artwork
THE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE ANCIENT AND THE CONTEMPORARY. As with this entire series, I set myself the arduous task of establishing a dialogue between the old masters and mass culture, uniting "Pop Strategies and Inspirations" with the art of the past. I was inspired by Hayez's painting, "Susanna Bathing." A very beautiful and pious young woman is lusted after by some old men who catch her bathing and threaten her if she doesn't give in to them. she is publicly accused of adultery and sentenced to death. Some painters emphasize the drama, others focus on the artistic nude, as in this case Hayez, who eliminates the voyeurs from his painting.

Ezio Ranaldi, is an artist born in Canosa di Puglia, in the Province of Bari, on May 23, 1948, where he lives and works. He has held many solo and group exhibitions in various cities, including Tarquinia, at the Etruscopolis Museum, in Ferrara at the Estense Castle, in Cannes in France, in Norwich in Great Britain, in Paris, in Bari, and in many other Italian locations. He has participated in various International Biennials including Rome, Florence, Ferrara, Lecce, Verona. Present in various Modern and Contemporary Art Fairs, including Padova Arte, ExpoArte in Bari, Artisti in Mostra in Parma, Artexpo in New York, Arte Salerno. Numerous prizes and awards. His works appear in public and private collections, as well as being published several times in catalogs and contemporary art magazines. Valuable critics have expressed themselves regarding his work.
