About this artwork
A woman as a child, immersed in a fairytale, distant time, with her doll in her hand, reminding us of childhood innocence. In contrast, the mature woman, uninhibited, naked but wearing a mask, symbolizing silence, impotence, and physical limitation.
The time of the pandemic forces us to pause, to restructure our lives. The pandemic forces us to reflect, to turn back to that unstructured child who, in her infantile dimension, has yet to develop.… A circular reference, a play of mirrors and superimpositions, in a constant reference from woman to girl and vice versa, two dichotomous images that encapsulate the extraordinary nature of our time.
Inspired by Picasso, a dialogue between classical masters and mass culture, and combining pop strategies and influences with the art of the past.

Ezio Ranaldi, is an artist born in Canosa di Puglia, in the Province of Bari, on May 23, 1948, where he lives and works. He has held many solo and group exhibitions in various cities, including Tarquinia, at the Etruscopolis Museum, in Ferrara at the Estense Castle, in Cannes in France, in Norwich in Great Britain, in Paris, in Bari, and in many other Italian locations. He has participated in various International Biennials including Rome, Florence, Ferrara, Lecce, Verona. Present in various Modern and Contemporary Art Fairs, including Padova Arte, ExpoArte in Bari, Artisti in Mostra in Parma, Artexpo in New York, Arte Salerno. Numerous prizes and awards. His works appear in public and private collections, as well as being published several times in catalogs and contemporary art magazines. Valuable critics have expressed themselves regarding his work.
