An intricate and detailed abstract on stretched canvas, typical of Davis' stunning use of fine line, pattern and colour.
'' I enjoy the process of discovery involved in completing these intricate pieces. Each turn and twist of the composition provides me with ideas as I elaborate on numerous details. Curved arches brought to mind ancient motifs I uncovered, as a student, excavating beaker sites on the magical Cheviot hills of Northumberland; or… more recently when I visited the magnificent Roman Amphitheatre in Arles, France. The arch motif presents us with much more than it seems on first sight, encompassing the cave, tent, humble dwelling, palace , or indeed our ever present human need for shelter, warmth, safety and security. It could also symbolise the metaphorical passage into another world".
