About this artwork
A Fascinating journey into the artists imagination taking inspiration from the illustrative tradition of nonsense rhymes. The subtle palette and fine line work echoing the whimsical and ethereal nature of the subject matter in this unique painting showcasing Davis’ mastery of atmospheric colour combined with evocative line.
‘I have spent many years admiring and writing poetry and wanted here to produce a feeling of depth of meaning using thin layers… of acrylic, akin to my watercolour pieces. The work of Edward Lear, Spike Milligan and Brian Patten in their more imaginative verses, together with the metaphysical imagery of Paul Klee all play a part in my decision making. The title is taken from an Irish expression meaning mad, distracted or in a dreamworld.’
The work is on stretched linen canvas, ready to hang and UV varnished.
« I am constantly searching for answers and questions relating to the human condition. Art reveals our greatness and our vulnerability. »
