About this artwork
This painting came out of a need for stillness. Two men at a round table—one reading, the other listening. There’s no big story behind it. Just a quiet moment, the kind that usually goes unnoticed. But those are the ones I keep coming back to.
I think I was interested in that space between them. Not just physically, but emotionally. There’s care, maybe even affection, but it’s unspoken. The man in red is offering something—maybe a thought, a memory.… The other listens, not with excitement, but with presence. That kind of attention feels rare.
The table is this bright blue, almost like water. There’s a small vase with a few purple flowers—something fragile, maybe a bit sad. The yellow background wasn’t planned to be symbolic, but it does feel a bit sacred, like the scene is floating in time.
And then the swallow. I don’t always know what these elements mean when I paint them. Sometimes they just feel necessary. Maybe it’s a sign of something passing through.
