"Woman Defiant" is about a woman who has been beaten down by life, but who decides to put herself back on her feet (dancing). A portrait of feminine strength and the raw, powerful, uncontrollable power that resides in us all.
In the background of the paintings are "tears"; the pain life has given her, but at the forefront is the golden dust, her life-force, which her energetic movements whirl up around her.

Fie Freja Sandkamm is a painter and opera singer from northern Denmark, now based in Hamburg, Germany, whose rich background in both music and art infuses her creative practice. Working primarily with spatulas and guided by intuition, she allows spontaneity and emotional honesty to shape a luminous, expressive style.
