About this artwork
At the foot of the work lies a dark, porous volcanic stone that I picked up on the fiery lands of Reunion Island. It is the memory of an ancient fire, a fragment of frozen lava, witness to the telluric power and the origin of the worlds. It embodies anchoring, gravity, the base on which everything is built. From this mineral mass springs the ovoid shape that I have dotted with an infinity of colored circles similar to balloons, bubbles or planets.…
These dazzling spheres rise like an aerial celebration, as if the stone, after having known fire and heaviness, suddenly released its dreams in bursts of light.
The work is a metaphor for transformation: from the fire of the earth is born the lightness of the sky, from the weight is born flight, from the darkness springs celebration. It is a hymn to resilience and joy, a reminder that even from the densest can escape the promise of the lightest: a release of balloons entrusted to the wind. 🎈
