About this artwork
I envisioned Gaia as an ocean goddess, half-woman, half-fish, and the matrix of all life forms, at the junction of the elements (water, earth, fire, sky). The kelp forest, which here represents the symbol of fertility and marine life, is Gaia's anchor. The stars evoke the harmony between heaven and earth. The fire flowers, solar bursts in the aquatic world, represent the meeting of the elements—water and fire—in a sacred balance. Pointillism and… spirals, my favorite themes, are the language of vital energy, cosmic cycles, vibrations that connect all beings. The dominant deep and luminous blues, oscillating between oil and acrylic, give a beautiful depth.
FLOD, a French painter and sculptor based in Spain, works mainly in painting using dot art, spirals and gold; she draws on a self-taught background and studies at the Beaux-Arts in Avignon. Her technique lies between the abstract and the figurative, she gives herself entirely to this indefinite sphere which requires both poetry and mastery of technique. She favors a symbolic, unreal and poetic approach; each work, singular, honors the magic of colors and the generosity of the material. She infuses her art with dreams, escape, and a vibrant joy, deeply touching the soul of the spectator.
