Genesis:
Rainer Maria Rilke: "Let yourself be penetrated by this slow mystery, the gentle light that envelops the soul and raises it beyond words."
I maintained a great deal of creative freedom here: it was the nuances of the palette that guided me. I began with a mechanical, horizontal gesture, dividing the colors and then subtly blending them.
Inspired by the ripples of water and the silvery reflections of water under the sun.
The composition… began to vibrate: I accentuated the contrasts using deep browns and greys to create depth.
The perception of harmony appeared to me and I then entered a kind of frenetic trance while applying the final layers.
Then I remember very clearly feeling that sense of peace that signifies a work is complete. "Trance was born."
I suggest you go into a trance listening to Keith Jarrett's "Köln concert" while making it.

Florence Penet is a French artist who creates abstract paintings characterized by a search for light through the interplay of chromatic contrast and harmony. Working primarily in oils, she often adds marble dust for an impasto effect and to structure her compositions. Her work is essentially spontaneous, her paintings taking shape as the layers of glaze are applied. In this intuitive way of creating, Florence's spirit and emotions take hold of and inhabit the space of the canvas.
