About this artwork
Rhythmic rows of vines provide structure to the composition, while sweeping treetops and free-flowing areas of color disrupt its order. Cool shades of blue, violet, and turquoise meet warm ochre, yellow, orange, and pink hues, creating a sense of spaciousness and summery warmth.
Free, gestural brushstrokes keep vines, trees, and terrain features recognizable, yet repeatedly allow them to dissolve into colorful movements. Light and shadow arise… from the contrast between juxtaposed areas of color.

Florian Weiß is a contemporary German landscape painter. He works with oil on canvas and develops his paintings from the direct observation of real places, especially the Upper Palatinate Jura region in Bavaria. For him, landscape is not merely a motif, but a process of perception and painterly transformation. In his studio, what he sees is transformed through color, space, and composition into an independent pictorial reality that exists between figuration and abstraction.
Form emerges from superimposed layers of color, impulsive brushstrokes, and a constructive pictorial order. In this way, the atmosphere, movement, and energy of a place become visible.
