About this artwork
It can be the dark velvet of night, or the bright azure
of a summer dawn, to be dappled with emerald and turquoise in the hollow of the ocean waves, to find the innocent hue of the veil of the Madonna in the statues of our country churches, or the soft pallor of an infant's layette, to trace the bright flash of the kingfisher's wing on the murky water of the river, to throw the fires of sapphire on the finger of a beauty, to dress in the mysterious… and slightly disturbing word of cobalt, or to have the warlike echo of Prussia. It can take on the soft and misty hue of the horizon, finally it symbolizes our France since always it is the first color of our flag, and also the echo of the souls of the slaves of the cotton fields, the Blues
