About this artwork
In this work, the desert becomes the scene of a sudden storm, a vortex of sand and light that envelops the traveler and his camel. The human figure, bowed but not defeated, advances through the mist, carrying with it a fragile and precious baggage, like a memory or a truth to be defended. The storm is not just a natural phenomenon, but a metaphor for those unexpected crises that erupt in life, shattering certainties and illusions.
The journey,… guided by resilience and the ability to adapt, then becomes an exercise in inner transformation: resisting means accepting change, learning to navigate chaos without losing direction. Against this backdrop, the desert offers its harshest but also most vital lesson: survival isn't about anchoring oneself to rigid beliefs, but letting oneself be shaped by the wind, becoming more flexible, more aware, more essential.
Francesco Pellerano, painter, draftsman, printmaker, and digital artist, trained at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts and enriched his sensibility with his experience in restoration. His research oscillates between lyrical abstraction and evocative figuration, with visionary landscapes constructed through layered materials, contrasts, and acrylic washes that convey a sense of poetic instability. His works are imbued with nostalgia and desire, inviting the viewer to explore the subtle boundary between reality and mirage and immerse themselves in suspended emotions and introspection.
