I wanted to give her that dark background and that colored skin to make her face glow.
The warm tones – reds, oranges, yellows – vibrate like an inner life, while the blues and greens add emotional depth.…

I wanted to give it those visible, free, almost spontaneous brushstrokes, which reinforce this feeling of authenticity; there is no mask.
There is humanity.
