About this artwork
In this painting, I've channeled my joy and fascination with nature into a vibrant depiction of two sunflowers standing boldly against a serene backdrop. I used thick, expressive strokes of acrylic to capture their wild, untamed beauty. This artwork embodies resilience and energy, bringing a splash of optimism and brightness to any space. It's a celebration of life's simple pleasures and the enduring warmth of the sun.

My name is Frank Pratorius. I’m 48 years old, born in 1978, and I live and work in Kingston, Minnesota. I started painting in 2024. I’m completely self‑taught, and I learned by experimenting, making mistakes, and following whatever felt right. I have also learned from other artists throughout my life. Once I started painting, something clicked for me, and I have painted everyday since.
My work comes from a mix of instinct, emotion, and the natural beauty around me. I also love myths, and fantasty. I don’t usually plan what I'm going to paint. I begin with a color or a feeling, and I let the painting grow from there.
Sometimes the image becomes serious and more complex and sometimes simple and quick. I put a lot of emotion and movement into my work . I want my painting to envoke deep nostalgia , self contemplation ,and show the power and range of the emotions I poured into each piece.
