About this artwork
Second Place is a modern abstract artwork focused on composition, texture and color, inspired by urban wall textures and graffiti. The tension that arises from layers that are painted over again and again - for example on walls in public spaces - is reflected in the picture. Traces of the old remain and are partially covered with new things. In this way, layer by layer, an exciting overall composition is created that tells of the past and carries… the present within itself.
The original abstract painting by Franziska Ostermeier shines with its high-contrast colors. It lives on shades of green, orange, pink, beige and white. The contemporary artwork was painted on canvas using acrylics, pastels, colored pencils and oil pastels. The hand-painted picture on canvas was stretched on a stretcher frame. It can be hung immediately.
« For me, a painting is a sensual interplay of structures, colors, and shapes, taking into account the materiality of canvas and painting medium. »
Franziska Ostermeier is a painter and textile artist based in Germany whose works have been exhibited in Switzerland and Scotland. She describes her art as being a mirror of her perception and emotional reactions to the outside world. Fascinated by landscapes and botany, Ostermeier's distinctive abtractions are most often created using acrylics, oils, and pastels on canvas.
