'rascal', the rascal, is the latest geometric work by Berlin artist Franziska Raffaël.
The work radiates an inviting openness, lightness and spaciousness. The mood is relaxed, almost playful. The forms seem to be in motion and to interact with each other according to their own unwritten rules.
The entire motif is sprayed in meticulous detail. Each element builds on the previous one. First, structural elements made of sand are applied to the canvas.… These sandy textures create additional shapes and color gradients in the later construction of the work through their specific feel and color absorption, which contribute to the dynamics and depth of the work. In this way, 'rascal' changes its face in the changing daylight, revealing or hiding individual colored areas and shapes.

Driven by the urge to understand the world, I translate my impressions into colors, shapes, and structures. As a work emerges, ambiguities are clarified, impressions are organized, and overwhelm is dispelled. I use colors to set the tone, while structures and shapes act like script, creating orientation and providing support. The goal is always to understand and find inner peace.
My color palette and motifs change depending on the location, resulting in multi-layered abstract paintings that oscillate between clear, geometric structures and free, flowing forms.
I live and work in Berlin, with exhibitions primarily in Germany and collectors all over the world.
