About this artwork
Calypso, for those who may not know, is an Afro-Caribbean musical style that originated on the islands of Trinidad & Tobago. When Parhelion began working on this painting, he had no especial theme in mind, but was experimenting with rhythm and colour. When it was over, he was somewhat dissatisfied with the canvas... but when he turned it on end and stood it up (as displayed), all the elements fell into place before his eyes! He found he had encapsulated…
