About this artwork
Made of cardboard, this loose interpretation of Edvard Munch's "The Scream" (hence the title) depicts a tormented figure on a bridge. The expressionist work by the famous Norwegian painter was originally created in 1893 and depicts the existential angst felt by Munch while he was out walking with two of his friends. Hidden on the canvas was this phrase, which reads "could only have been painted by a madman."
The original idea is twofold: on the… one hand, using cardboard, spray paint, and pencil to create a 3D composition that highlights volume and perspective. On the other hand, using the cardboard handle to represent the mouth.
The cardboard pieces are spray painted, then drawn on and finally stapled or glued.
