About this artwork
What Breaks Also Glows explores transformation through fracture, pressure, and concealed light. The work reflects the idea that moments of stress, rupture, and vulnerability can also become sites of illumination and change.
Created through an intuitive acrylic pouring process, layers of deep blue, red, and coral were allowed to flow and collide, forming fluid pathways and cellular textures shaped by gravity and time. Mica pigments introduce shifting… highlights across the surface, catching and refracting light as the viewer moves around the piece. Embedded glow-in-the-dark and UV-reactive pigments remain hidden under normal lighting conditions, revealing themselves only in darkness or under black light.
This dual state is central to the work. By day, the painting holds one presence; by night, another quietly emerges. The glow appears gradually, suggesting that resilience and clarity often surface only after periods of pressure or breaking.
I am an Australian multidisciplinary artist working across digital and physical mediums, drawing on a background in visual arts, applied arts, and professional makeup artistry. My practice is grounded in fluid, process-driven techniques—particularly resin and acrylic paint pouring—where I balance structure with spontaneity to create richly layered abstractions influenced by digital texture mapping and typography. Through texture, movement, and intuition, my work invites viewers into meditative spaces that explore vulnerability, memory, and transformation through quiet emotional resonance.
