About this artwork
The silence between them was thicker than the air, heavy with anticipation. The eyes of the man and the woman met, and in the confined space where they stood, there was no one but the two of them. Her eyes, half-closed, radiated a warm, alluring promise, reflecting the dark, concentrated fire in his own gaze. Every fine line near the corners of their eyes, every barely noticeable tilt of the head, spoke to the fact that tender words were no longer… necessary; they were engaged in a silent yet passionate dialogue. Now, in this frozen second, the entire universe contracted to a single, inevitable event: the moment when this tension would be released by one long, long-awaited kiss.
The acrylic painting is done on paper and will be carefully packaged in special paper and a tube.
I, Galyna Antonenko, am an architect by training. I studied painting for six years in the private studio of the renowned Ukrainian artist V. Sosna. I use primarily bright acrylic paints in my works. My art is an attempt to stop time. When I paint women's portraits, it's as if I whisper to them: "Stop, moment—you are so beautiful!" I am inspired by those brief, almost imperceptible moments when a person becomes truly visible—without posing, without protection, simply themselves. The women in my paintings are not models, but reflections of inner strength, vulnerability, and beauty in simplicity. I seek in every face that facet of light where life is hidden. Children's portraits occupy a special place in my work. Adults strive to appear, while children strive simply to feel. And I strive to capture this pure feeling: delight, surprise, sadness, joy—everything that makes us alive. My paintings are more than just images. It is a dialogue with the moment.
