About this artwork
Nemesis, goddess of vengeance, instrument of divine retribution to punish human excess and restore balance. As in most representations of justice, we find here a blindfolded woman, except that she holds no scales or sword in her hands, her very presence being synonymous with a field of ruins. A distant reference to Greek mythology, this contemporary Nemesis echoes the warlike devastations that mark current events with tragic regularity, punishment…
and revenge being now human, all too human...
This artwork is made in mixed media on canvas. It combines photography, digital art and acrylic painting (transparent glazes and a raised signature square), it is a unique piece and it comes with a certificate of authenticity. The painting is framed in black wood (dimensions: 79 x 55 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' destroy borders and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. »
Georges Dumas's artistic approach is both simple and complex. While the aesthetic of his works, which he describes as "paintographies," is highly figurative, their composition is slow and complex, blending photography, digital art, and acrylic paint. Georges Dumas transforms the models he photographs into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent both the passage of time and the fragility of the body.
