"Resistance" is a sculpture that captures a moment of extreme tension. A man is clinging horizontally to a vertical pole, every muscle tensed in an effort to resist gravity and the fall. The pose depicts a titanic struggle, where the body yields but the will holds firm. The structure is formed by a precise grid of orthogonal lines, a three-dimensional grid that defines the figure with rigid geometry. This rectilinear mesh creates an almost engineered… body, transparent yet solid. The meaning of "Resistance" transcends physical effort. The man is not only fighting the fall, but also fighting to maintain his very structure. The orthogonal grid represents his principles and his identity. The work symbolizes the strength of those who, under pressure, refuse to dissolve, finding in their own structural coherence the resource to persevere. It is the affirmation of being against entropy.
Giacomo Toth is an artist and designer who blends aesthetics, technology, and concepts. With a background in digital design (IED) and industrial design (Sapienza University), he has a distinguished career as a yacht designer, designing the Azimut Atlantis Verve 36, awarded "Boat of the Year 2009," before dedicating himself entirely to contemporary art in 2018.
His research explores themes of lightness, fluidity, and resistance, drawing inspiration from the human body, yoga, and parametric architecture. Through the use of plastic materials and digital technologies, Toth creates sculptures balancing dynamism and fragility, capable of engaging with space and sensory perception.
Internationally recognized, he has participated in prestigious events such as Art Revolution Taipei and Artbox Project at Miami Art Basel Week. His work invites reflection on the relationship between energy and matter, combining design rigor and poetic imagination.
