About this artwork
Like a Riace bronze at the bottom of the sea, man finds himself inhabiting a submerged world, a kingdom of silence and secrets. Here, between the waves and the deep darkness, we float in an environment that, despite being threatened by our own actions, still retains its essence of quiet and peace. The sea, never completely tamed, welcomes us and challenges us, sometimes reflecting the unchanged beauty of a distant past, other times revealing the… weight of our pollution.
This image, suspended between light and shadow, invites deep reflection. In a world that is rapidly deteriorating, the sea remains, although shaken and wounded, a symbol of hope and rebirth. Its waters, although contaminated by our waste, continue to hold the promise of a peace that we can still regain. Man and the sea, tied in an eternal embrace, ask us to look beyond the surfaces, to listen to the murmurs of a world that struggles to maintain its beauty.
Gianluca Chiodi is an established Italian photographer with national exposure. Inspired by Italian operas, Caravaggio, and the romanticism of painting, he composes photographs that blur visual reality, fantasy and sensuality together into an irresistible, sensory aesthetic. In doing so, Chiodi explores subjects such as the human body and the power of its movement, the environment and its protection, and people and their vices.
