About this artwork
In this painting I wanted to hold the figures at a threshold: one suspended, one twisting away, both caught between strain and support. The palette is deliberately lighter than in many of my other works, almost theatrical, because I was interested in how colour itself can unsettle as much as form. The small details, like the open view beyond, hint at the possibility of release, but the scene remains unresolved.
