In this painting, I blended oil and chalk to evoke the textures and colors of the sea, inviting a sense of calm into your space. The blues and dynamic shells radiate both energy and serenity, making this piece a celebration of nature’s beauty.
In Brazil, shells are also used in the practice of jogo de búzios, a divinatory art rooted in traditional African religions and in the religions of the African diaspora. It is considered one of the oldest… oracles of the Yoruba people. Hence the title, Sorte, which means “luck” in Portuguese.
