About this artwork
"Up the Moon" Series Conclusion: Masterpiece
Gregory Christeas transformed a haunting personal dream into this visionary work of abstract art. Based on his fight for freedom against the Greek dictatorship of 1967 and inspired by recurring nightmares and mythic intervention, this final, three-dimensional work embodies struggle, transcendence, and rebirth. Through sculptural forms and celestial symbolism, the "Masterpiece" explores humanity’s… difficult flight from ignorance toward light and creative awakening.

Gregory Christeas, born in Athens, Greece, in 1944, discovered his passion for abstract art early, guided by his mother’s nurturing influence. Over decades, he has built an illustrious career marked by numerous exhibitions, including the Cultural Olympiad Athens 2004—where the Ministry of Progress and the National Department of Tourism presented 125 of his works. His painting Parallel captures the essence of the Aegean Sea, translating childhood memories into waves of form and color. Each stroke reflects fluidity, emotion, and introspection, inviting viewers into a meditative journey. Deeply connected to nature, Christeas channels the rhythm of sea and sky, revealing harmony within chaos. Humble and contemplative, he allows his art to speak in silence—an invitation to pause and find beauty in the present. As Gregory Christeas continues to paint, his brushstrokes become whispers of wisdom, his colors fragments of dreams.
