About this artwork
Hope is a work about becoming and passing away, about what remains when everything passes away. I put paint on the canvas, only to burn it the next moment.
The resulting soot is the visible echo of this process, ash as a memory of light. In this act of destruction, I seek not loss, but the new. The movement that never ends, but constantly transforms. The work is part of my "Guardian Spirits" series, in which I manifest the idea that everything is… connected: cells, people, planets, stars.
Perhaps our universe is just a cell in a larger body, perhaps we carry countless worlds within us. I'm fascinated by the idea that the large continues in the small, that matter carries consciousness and consciousness shapes matter.
Guido Günther works with spray cans, acrylic, pigments, and various materials on facades, canvas, and concrete. He combines street art, urban art, and expressionist techniques into powerful, structured compositions; his works oscillate between conceptual facade design and free, intuitive painting. Through strong contrasts, flowing lines, and rhythmic structures, he creates art that fosters dialogue, energy, and identity. His work conveys a deep connection between people, nature, and space, inviting viewers to experience change as a creative force and an opportunity for emotional connection.
