About this artwork
In this work, two of my guardian spirits meet—two forces that attract, touch, and simultaneously distance each other. I see them as a symbol of the interplay of closeness and distance, of connection and independence. They belong to each other, and yet each seems to orbit in its own separate orbit—like planets that hold each other without ever fully touching.
The figures are in motion, surrounded by a space of stars and darkness, which for me symbolizes… the incomprehensible—that which is greater than us. The turquoise at the bottom of the painting is the subtle backlight of hope—a color that always appears when darkness prevails. I worked with spray paint, markers, and soot, breaking up lines and allowing surfaces to merge into one another. I'm interested in this in-between state, where forms are not yet fixed—where everything flows, changes, and new things emerge.
