About this artwork
Exploring the mark making capabilities of pen and ink, brush and watercolor on paper. I try to do at least one of these a day and usually start with no preconceived notions. These drawings look elegant when hung in groups.

Hal Mayforth is a prize-winning American artist who has exhibited his paintings in the United States. In addition to his illustrations, he also creates large-scale abstract compositions. Mayforth is inspired by numerous sources, including vintage comics and cartoons, as well as American petroglyphs, and outsider art. He begins each work by painting in a gestural manner, then painstakingly edits, both adding and removing elements, sometimes taking months to complete a single piece.
