This work marks a moment within a process of profound inner transformation. After a phase of vulnerability, previously embodied by the figure of the newborn, then a state of immersion and sensory numbness — like a journey underwater — this painting captures the precise moment of emergence.
The head begins to emerge from the surface, consciousness opens, still fragile but already engaged. The hands reach towards the skull, not to protect, but to… support this passage. This is no longer a withdrawal from the world, but an active preparation to return to it in a different way. This figure stands at the border between the old and the new: the old persona cracks, giving way to a more authentic presence, still naked, still unstable, but ready.
The pictorial material retains traces of fluidity and tension, bearing witness to that threshold where one accepts to let a form of oneself die in order to appear to the world in a renewed truth.
