An exploration of the face and identity through impasto acrylic. I've been rereading Jung's concept of the shadow lately, and somehow that tension has transferred to the canvas: the stark black block not only conceals but also sustains the expressive power and the strokes of color on the surface. Leaving the brushstroke direct and visible is my way of recording that conflict between what is revealed and what remains… in the shadows.
