About this artwork
"Northern Sunset" is an atmospheric, multi-layered painting that captures the interplay of colors in nature after a magnificent sunset. A light mist already hovers over the horizon, and the fading light bathes the scene in soft colors and gentle forms. I often find myself reflecting on the day that has passed, contemplating what was, what happened. The imposing yet peaceful atmosphere grounds me and brings me contentment. I experienced this painted… mood at Tannis Bay in northern Denmark on a clear, frosty evening towards the end of March, when the sun is still setting over the Hirtshals headland before, as spring and summer progress, it begins its journey back over the sea horizon. What a powerful display of color!
« I want to be creative and experience creativity. Therefore I paint what I feel and with great tension, I look at what surrounds me. »
Hasso Heybrock is an artist based in Germany who has exhibited his works nationally, as well as in Denmark, Italy, and Spain. He believes that looking at a painting means walking into an unknown adventure through the picture, where hidden emotions come to the surface. For Heybrock, making the adventure as intense and exciting as possible for the viewer is his main challenge as a painter.
