About this artwork
This small, abstract landscape is part of the "Baltic Sea Darß" series, which was created after a stay in Prerow. Light, air, freshness, space, movement – that's what I feel when I'm in this landscape.
With sweeping strokes and sometimes broad brushstrokes, using a palette knife or pouring techniques, I express an intense and powerful use of color. Brush marks and color gradients remain visible. In the process of abstraction and in the traces of… movement, I express a vibrancy that affects the viewer and their perception.
“(…) her painterly style is expressive, dynamic, even gestural in parts, thus characterized by a vigorous approach to the application of form and color.” (Prof. W. Schomer)
This is a simple shadow gap frame. Upon request, the picture can be fitted with a high-quality shadow gap frame for an additional charge. This will delay shipping by approximately one week.
Hedwig Oeldig, a trained painter specializing in landscape painting, uses acrylics, experiments with oils, pastels, and mixed media, and draws on her many years of teaching experience. Her dynamic painting style, oscillating between representational and abstract art, combines expressive, gestural brushstrokes, visible traces, and translucent layers of paint into atmospherically rich works. With her powerful, vibrant paintings, she invites viewers to experience nature in a multifaceted and emotional way, making warmth, cold, light, and shadow intensely palpable.
