This painting in the Opportunity series, in black and white acrylic and gouache, explores the idea of opportunity, represented by a flower. Various hands reach toward it: one overlooks it, another stretches but struggles to reach, one is close but must strive, and another has successfully seized it. Through these hands, I depict our shared human experience, each of us at different stages of grasping life’s chances.
Throughout the painting, faces… with expressions of pain, sadness, passion, and surprise appear, symbolizing the range of human emotions. Abstract figures move in different directions amid rising waves, representing life’s challenges and unpredictable events. These challenges, in turn, affect people’s emotions; some emit negativity, while others transform to spread positivity.
Birds in black and white embody these contrasting energies. Spotlights on the hands reflect moments of luck or missed chances that we often overlook, reminders of the opportunities around us.
