I paint with acrylics on 140lb. watercolor paper, using the process of layering the paint and scratching back to reveal unique colors and texture
With Waves, I’ m continuing with a darker color palette from last week. I started the painting with waves of dark greys and greens through the center; my ideaed the painting with waves of dark greys and greens through the center; my idea was to keep the corners… lighter. As I painted I decided to add some bold color elements for contrast.
I like that I stayed with the lighter corners, looking at the painting reminds of the beach with the aqua blues and the orangish sandy colors, hence the title Waves. When you look at small sections of the painting, it almost looks like a batik with the interplay of colors.
