About this artwork
I was inspired by the cultural landscape in which I live. In such a cultural landscape you see a combination of river, sea, sky and land. Beautiful Dutch skies, water, the ditches, the man who labors, arranges, digs, demarcates. Machines at work. There is always that wonderful mix of concept and process. This results in an architecture of the landscape. Just a painting!
I let the matter do its work as much as possible: The canvas lies on the floor,… gravity works, and the wet paint flows out. The paint contains ink and pigments. Ink is dissolved dye, pigment is not. Water flows to the lowest point. The fan makes wind. Due to the drying process, there is also the time factor that comes into play.
