With each pencil stroke, I captured the sheer joy and freedom of dolphins ascending toward the light.

This drawing channels the delicate balance of shadow and brilliance, celebrating life beneath the water, an ecosystem of wonder.

Bringing this piece into your space invites a serene, uplifting energy—like a breath of ocean air stirring your spirit to rise and embrace the endless possibilities of the deep.

My challenge was to capture the dolphin’s… lightness and flowing grace using delicate mid-tone chiaroscuro. I worked with soft pencil strokes, blending 2B, 4B, and 6B leads with gentle fingertip shading to create smooth depth and movement.
The drawing was completed on archival, acid-free watercolour paper and sealed with a UV-protective archival spray.
Chiaroscuro (Italian for “light-dark”) refers to the strong contrast between light and shadow that shapes the mood and depth of a composition.
