About this artwork
This is a piece that inhabits the heart of change. "Rio II" captures the feeling of being in the middle of a crossing, where the bank left behind is no longer visible and the new one is still out of reach. It is a work about the uncontrollable power of water and the force of a current that is, at once, life and scourge.
Technique and Aesthetics: Built upon a base of turquoise, blue, and white tones, the work uses fluidity to represent an uncontainable… movement. The layers overlap like colliding water, creating a depth where uncertainty and confidence coexist in every stroke. There is a raw energy in the way the colors blend, reflecting the intensity of being immersed in the real experience of forging one's own path.
It brings a sense of fluidity and resilience to the space. It's an invitation to accept the flow of life and to trust in the strength needed to overcome what seems uncontrollable.
Ignacio Barceló Carrillo, initially trained in philosophy, works with drawing and painting using materials ranging from charcoal and sand to industrial pigments. His technique is characterized by an abstract and expressionist style, with intuitive gestures and a profound exploration of the link between drawing and writing. His works seek to convey enthusiasm and expand consciousness, generating spaces of self-knowledge and inspiration through the vibrant energy he manages to materialize on each surface.
