About this artwork
The groups of figures are created live with a line from a dance movement of a model. The figures merge into one another and thus become groups of figures that take up a dynamic of movement and give an idea of the dance. Worked out with charcoal and then glazed with ink, they are portrayed vividly.

Ilona Ottenbreit is a German painter, sculptor and draftsman who has exhibited extensively in both solo and group events in Germany and the United Kingdom. Her works examine rhythm and movement, as it is the 'cause of our lives'. Ottenbreit's sculptures portray groups of people in movement, representing a collective connection, or oneness. She begins her process by sketching and examining motion, following the dancer with lines and recording what she can intuitively grasp.
