About this artwork
The circle, slightly displaced from its center and interspersed with fragments, symbolizes what was once thought of as "whole"—the individual, the earth, truth. Around it, lines and organic structures crisscross the surface. They are reminiscent of networks, cracks—references, as it were, to both the unifying and the fragmenting.
Lines like errors in the measurement of reality. Color like a memory of something that perhaps was never quite there.… A circle – not quite whole, not quite broken.
Perhaps we see a map without a north. Perhaps the echo of a moment in which everything could have—or can—still tipped over or healed. It's about the space in between: between form and dissolution, order and chance.
"0.8" represents something that is incomplete. A circle that isn't quite closed. Something that's only 80% visible.
