About this artwork
"Walking"---
In May the rainy season starts in Gogrial. Heavy rains and storms appear. This old man walks home just before the storm. The Médecins Sans Frontières hospital is shown in the background. It is the only reliable healthcare center in the area. People… walk sometimes for days in a terrible heat with more than 50°C to reach the hospital. In case of an emergency, MSF sends an ambulance to pick up the patient.
Dinkas are often described as a proud, traditional and agressive population with whom it is difficult to build contacts. Behind faces that are marked by war, fleeing and survival, Isabel discovered humanity and smiles.
