Back in the New Stone Age, the hunting cultures considered red to be the most imporant color because it conveyed life-giving powers. In Greek mythology, the red rose is dediated to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. For centuries the Roman Catholic church has used red for many reasons, and it remains their brand. In the 17th Century European cultures, red was considered the "power color". Red captures attention. In Russia, the word for red means… beautiful. This is Amo La Roja (Spanish for I love red). This is a dynamic piece that can hold its own anywhere, in any collections. It is acrylic and ink on wood panel, finished with a thin layer of polished cold wax to reduce glare, and framed in a natural maple floating frame. See detail photos. The panel is 12" x 12", and measures 13" x 13" with the frame. Amo La Roja is a beautiful little sister to two other pieces of Isabelle's: Six Black Dots and Eleven Black Dots. Both of these can be found in her collection of larger works.
« Beautiful art comes from inspiration. Inspiration comes from being present, from feeling alive. That's what art is for. »
