About this artwork
Currently on view in the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel. Inspired by the summer light on the Southern California Coastline, First Days of Summer is a diptych, acrylic on two birch wood panels, each measuring 54 x 20 x 1.75 inches. If you look at the close up detail shots, you'll see evidence of what I call "the history of the painting" - places where I've aggressively sanded and scratched back into multiple layers to reveal a mysterious blend of deep,…
rich colors. The birch wood I used stands up to the process of sanding back into the paint, where canvas would certainly tear. The work is sealed with a UV protected varnish, so it will stand up to direct light if you choose to hang it where it's exposed to a few hours of sunshine. This piece is not framed by intent. The 1.75 inch deep edges leave the birch wood exposed, creating a beautiful contrast between the abstract painting and a view of the natural substrate.

Isabelle's work has also been seen in the art magazine American Art Collectors, she was the first ever abstract artist interviewed on the renowned PodCast the American Art Collective, and her work has been seen a host of Conde Nast magazines, including Vanity Fair, and World of Interiors.
