About this artwork
Shoko, the artist's Japanese muse, in the very first series of 12 canvases in mini-formats produced for the exhibition Voeux d'artistes 2019 in Marseille, France.
The Japanese character means OPTIMISM.
TECHNIQUE: the artist transfers photos to canvas. Photos that she takes, transforms into black and white, then after being enlarged in A-0 or A-1, she applies a transfer medium and transfers, on blank or previously worked canvas, with circular movements… and water. Then the creative work can begin: fabric, paper, newspapers, ink, pastel ... The work is only finished when the artist feels an emotion while looking at his painting.

« People inspire me. They are for some encyclopedias. I learn from them to infinity. »
Jacinthe Lamontagne-Lecomte is painter, photographer and sculptor from France. Her mixed-media works are created using a skillful combination of oil, charcoal, ink, paper, fabric, and pigments. Each piece is built around an original photograph depicting women from various social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Next comes background work, mixing colors, adding textures, to achieve her final product. Her mixed-media pieces are suffused with intimacy and nostalgia.
