About this artwork
This painting was two years in the making. I finally found the true nature of the person who appeared on my canvas. An Empath, someone who feels things that are not usually perceived by others, who often knows something before it happens and can feel the vibrations from others.
The work began with the young woman with the circle behind her, which grew into a glowing universe. The woman underwent many transformations, but kept returning to this apearence..… The many layers of designs and patterns are all part of the journey to the final form of this picture.
Before a painting is called, "finished", it must feel right to me/ Some inner system that weighs and balances the composition. It weighs the colors, values and most importantly, what the painting is saying. Does that message fit with my feelings? Is it heartfelt? If all that is yes, then I sign it and call it done!

Credentials
- Works on commission
James Griffin is a well-known painter with a Bachelor of Fine Art from Pratt Institute, recognized for his five-decade career in illustration and his consistent focus on personal art. He masterfully blends realistic techniques with intuition, allowing subconscious dream imagery and symbolism to emerge through slow-drying acrylics—brushing, scraping, and squeegeeing the canvas in an organic process. His style is rooted in realism but remains open to discovery, often evoking the mystery of dreams. Griffin’s paintings convey a profound sense of wonder, spirituality, and the emotional resonance of simply being alive.
